Fish Out of Water

This might be the silliest shrine I've ever made, but I gotta say it...

I LOVE THE FISH FROM CHICKEN LITTLE (Not in the "I wanna smash" way. He's just genuinely one of my biggest comfort characters and gives me weird maternal instincts.)

Yes. This thing.

It's strange honestly. I didn't actually watch Chicken Little until I was 16 years old. (I knew about the movie as a kid, and I even thought the idea of a fish wearing a scuba helmet to breathe was pretty creative.) During the pandemic, I decided to watch it out of sheer boredom and curiosity. (The movie sucks btw.) When I saw this character pop up on screen, I just knew something was there. He doesn't even add anything to the film. He's just some one-note comic relief character. But he's too cute to hate.

I first saw the movie in September 2020. Didn't think much of it at the time. Then I got a random hyperfixation for it in February 2021, and I started adoring Fish a lot more. That fixation died down for awhile, and it had a sudden regurgence in roughly October 2023. Ever since then, Chicken Little has been one of my special interests, and Fish has been constantly on my mind. (My IRL friends are probably sick of me mentioning him and this movie at this point. 😭)

Fish is also a pretty obvious influence for my character Kip both personality and design-wise. (And they're both mute.)

Also you CAN'T tell me this dude isn't autistic. Like, if you've seen the film, HE LITERALLY SCREAMS AUTISM. (I'm autistic. I can say this.)

Interesting fact about this gif: It comes from a Monday night football commercial that aired the week Chicken Little premiered. It was lost media for awhile until someone uploaded it to YouTube in May 2024.

Also Fish is a Ravens fan apparently. (Not my team but good for him.) Ironically they lost that night. Lmao

As you can see, I've spent a lot of money on this character and I have zero regrets. I wanna collect merch of the other Chicken Little characters eventually, but right now I'm just focusing on Fish.

Now here is some mundane trivia/lore I learned about Fish. (I got these from official sources like books and behind the scenes footage.)

He is a foreign exchange student, and his parents are scientists that wanna study life on land.
His vocal sounds were performed by making noises through a tube attached to a water cooler tank filled with water.
He doesn't like swimming. He prefers walking.
Nobody knows exactly what goes on in his mind. XD

These are all the reasons I am a firm believer that Fish is autistic. :3

He can't speak, and he communicates differently than others.
A lot of his behaviors resemble stimming. (Ex. vocalizations, clapping, fidgeting with objects)
He kinda just does his own thing and he's in his own world.
(I know this one's kind of a stretch, but) During the dodgeball scene, he's assigned to the "unpopular" team. (The other kids might think he's weird, which is something autistic kids unfortunately experience often.)

Also I found this image a few years ago, so clearly I'm not the only one who thinks this.
