1/20/25 | Inauguration Day. Yay...
Ooh boy. This blog might be a bit longer than usual but I have a lot of thoughts.
🎉WHOA! THE INAUGURATION HAPPENED! WE NOW HAVE OUR 47TH PRESIDENT BABY!!!🎉
...and I did not watch it. I wasn't happy with the election turnout whatsoever, so of course I'm upset about the inauguration. Don't get me wrong. I didn't like any of the candidates from the 2024 election, but I knew Trump was a much bigger threat to human rights than Kamala. (Yeah both are disgusting Zionists but the former is literally Hitler 2.) also i still think not voting or voting third party were stupid decisions to make considering the stakes of the election and Jill Stein was a grifter who literally used Palestine for her own gain
That said, I am very worried for the future of America. I'm scared for the safety of all the marginalized people living here. Heck, I'm scared for my OWN safety since I fall under many minority groups (biracial/African-American, autistic, bisexual, trans(?), and aromantic). Most of my friends are part of marginalized groups as well, so I worry for them too. I'm also scared for other places such as Palestine considering that Trump wants Israel to "finish the job". (This quote hits pretty close to home since I have a Palestinian friend with family in that region. I worry about them a lot.) Also it's only day one and Trump has already started harming immigrants (not just illegal immigrants. ALL immigrants), and his buddy Elon Musk did TWO NAZI SALUTES during the innauguration. WHAT THE FUCK. I really don't want America to turn fascist and for Palestine and other regions to continue suffering.
On one hand, I can see why non-Americans make fun of us. This country has a lot of issues, and there are a lot of stupid people here that happily voted for a fascist. HOWEVER, not all of us are like that. We very much hate our government, our current president, and the genocides they are committing. It's not fair to lump us all in with those people.
I barely have any family who would agree with me on ANY of this. Luckily I grew up in a household that hated Trump, but most of my relatives are conservative Christians who love that man. I pretty much stopped checking on my family on Facebook because of how bigoted they are. I'd keep seeing posts that were racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, Zionist, and condescending to anyone who wasn't Christian. And that stuff is not good for my mental health!
also being from the same city as J.D. Vance means that I have to see my family and other people from there be annoying about him on social media. I guess the idea of someone from my birthplace being Vice President is cool???, but I find it more embarrassing than inspiring considering he's paired with the orange man.
Also I just wanna take a moment to mention the TikTok ban and how laughable it was. They've been playing it out as this big thing for years. Everyone was saying their final goodbyes as they migrated to Rednote (actually called Little Red Book) and other social medias. We truly thought this was the end. BUT NOPE! The ban didn't even last a day. And even TIKTOK ITSELF was thanking Trump for sAvInG tHe DaY (even though he was the one who started this whole mess in the first place). you cannot tell me this wasn't done to make orange boy look good to younger voters
And those are all my thoughts on the state of this country! If you made it to the end, thanks for sticking around for this messy rant! And if you're an American who is currently fearing for the future, I understand, and I don't want you to give up. Hopefully things will get better.
lord help us...
